Miss Floy King attended a teachers' institute at Greenwood last week. Emery Breed of Hogan visited her last week. Misses Mattie and Jennie Furlong of Christie were the guests of Miss Mamie Snyder Thursday. Mrs. Frank King of St. Cloud, Wis. Is visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity. Mrs. Geo. Campbell we reported on the sick list the past week. A couple of ladies from Spencer visited Mrs. Janie Dwyer last week. The young people met at the home of Maud and Olive Humiston on Tuesday evening of last week and indulged in a lively time. The party was given in honor of Miss Mae Taplin. Mrs. Levi Fulwiler and niece Miss Lawrence were county seat visitors last Thursday. Albion Snyder carried a big black eye and a peeled nose around with him last week. He claims he ran into a board fence. Be careful next time Albion. Wm. Windsor made a business trip to Humbird last Wednesday. Some members of the M.W.A. of this place took in the camp at Neillsville Wednesday evening. John Vandeberg lost about 40 rods of fence by fire the past week. Our base ball team is not in it, they are defeated every time they cross bats with their neighbors. Mr. Geo. Drake of Fremont was a guest of Mrs. William Mortimer last Friday. G.S. Rowe and wife are visiting relatives in the Hub city. A minister whose name we have failed to learn rode his bicycle here to attend camp meeting, a distance of 100 miles in less than a day. A few young people met at the home of Frank and Alba Snyder Friday evening and spent a few enjoyable hours. Miss Carrie Peat visited Shortville last week. An infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Les. Mach is seriously ill. The Wilcox threshing machine threshed 800 bu. of oats in four hours last Friday. Who can beat it?
