Sheep shearing is the chief order of business among the farmers at present. Geo. Campbell has purchased a new buggy this week. Now for a ride.

Oscar Whalen died last Thursday morning at the county farm, of paralysis, at a ripe old age. Mr. Whalen had been a resident of this place from many years, and was known by everybody. His funeral occurred Thursday afternoon, Rev. G.N. Foster officiated.

Ray Hanes, of Loyal, visited friends and schoolmates in York last Saturday.

Mrs. H.L. Snyder was reported on the sick list last week.

Mrs. Wm. Smithers went to Neillsville Wednesday to consult Dr. Brewer.

Fred Reitz was seen on our streets last Friday.

F. Benedict and W. Fulwiler have returned from Withee and are once more enjoying a stay under the parental roof.

Mrs. John Dwyer was afflicted with the mumps the past week.

A party consisting of Messrs. George Lindsley, John Vandeberg, Bert and Melvin Lawrence enjoyed a fishing tour last week to Hemlock, and caught about 75 of the finny tribe.

We think the Times correspondent is off his base when he says the "Times is the most popular paper up this way."

A.L. Snyder made a trip to Shortville last Friday afternoon.

H.W. Visgar has purchased a span of horses of A.W. Hales for $85.

John Free of Alma Center, visited friends and relatives here last week.

E.M. Rowe and family of Granton, visited at this place the latter part of last week.

C.F. Vick went to Madison last Friday on business connected with the creamery in which he has invested.

We acknowledge a pleasant call from Rollie Lee of the Windfall, Sunday.

Fred Klinesmith and wife of Nasonville, and Emma and Bertha Jansen of Lynn, were the guests of Ernest Grabe and wife Sunday.

Camp meeting begins on the 12th of June and lasts until the 19th. Herb Visgar moved his family to Granton Friday, and W.F. Bolton occupies the house he vacated.

An infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Turner died last Saturday morning and was buried in the York Center cemetery Sunday forenoon. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of all.

Effie Gibson is down with a slight attack of diptheria. Dr. Lacey is attending her. The board of health should take great precaution that the disease May not spread.
