Lorraine M Dorski, age 83, of Eau Claire, died Dec. 31, 2001 at her residence. She was born on Dec. 27, 1918, in Stanley to Alvin and Mabel (Johnson) Peterson.

Lorraine graduated from Stanley High School and then attended and received her teaching certificate from the Eau Claire Normal School in Stanley. She taught in the Drywood country school near Cadott, South Worden near Stanley, and one year in South Dakota.

Loraine married Thomas Dorski on June 1, 1940 in Stanley. They lived in Neillsville and later at Bloomer where Lorraine worked with the Foster Grandparent program at Bloomer Elementary School and Northern Colony in Chippewa Falls. Thomas died in 1975 and Lorraine moved to Eau Claire.

She and Thomas were members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanley, Greenwood and Bloomer. They were founding members of Calvary Lutheran Church (Home Mission Church) in Neillsville, which they helped build. Lorraine was a member of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

Lorraine believed that a pot of coffee was the coming together of people. She entertained pastors, families, friends, neighbors, relatives and strangers. A lunch could be served at any moment and made out of anything and she always added an egg to the coffee grounds. Laughter and lots of talking and discussions melded with the sound of coffee percolating.

Surviving is her son, Thomas (Alice) Dorski of Madison; three daughters, Nancy (Dan) Stangel of Elk Mound, Esther (John) Hager of Eau Claire and Shirley Johnson of Osceola; seven grandchildren, Ann (Jack) Fessenden, Jennifer (Nate) Neilsen, Scott (Stacey) Stangel, Jason Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Abby Hager and Ben Hager: five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Elda) Peterson of Kenosha and Dean (Marion) of Wisconsin Rapids; sister, Dorothy Wedman of Sugarland, TX; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Lorraine in death were her parents; her husband Thomas; son-in-law, Steve Johnson; grandson Jeremy Stangel; sister, Marjorie Peterson; and four brothers, Rodney, James, Richard and Ralph Peterson.

Funeral services were held Jan. 3, 2002, at First Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with the Rev. Dr. Duane C Pederson officiated. Burial was in the Bloomer Cemetery at Bloomer.

Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home served the family.
