Hollmann, Joe (24 MAY 1845 - 22 Feb 1927)

Mr. Joe Hollmann died at his home here in the village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.) Tuesday evening, Feb. 22nd, 1927, after an illness of less than a week with the stomach flu, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 28 days.

Mr. Hollmann was born in Polkendorf, Austria, May 24, 1845. He was united in marriage to Theresa Lamer on Oct. 22nd, 1867, and three children were born to them in Austria and one after they came to the United States. One child died in infancy.

The Hollmanns came to the United on March 15th, 1882 and immediately settle on their farm 4 ½ miles east of the village, where they have been most of the time until 1923 when Mr. Hollmann felt that the days of hard work must cease, so he turned his farm over to his son, Frank, and with his good wife moved into their home in the village.

He was a kind neighbor, a good friend, and will be much missed in the neighborhood, church, and among his large circle of friends.

On Oct. 22nd, 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Hollmann had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Mary Schwermer, with their children, grandchildren and friends about them.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves to mourn his loss, two daughters, Mrs. Paul Bartnik of Oregon, and Mrs. Mary Schwermer, Holton, and his son Frank; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

As a message has been received from Mrs. Bartnik saying she is coming, the funeral has been arranged for Monday morning to allow her to get here. He will be buried from St. Louis Catholic Church, of which he was a faithful member, Rev. Pitzenberger officiating and John Goessl, Leopold Boxrucker, John Jantsch, August Miller, Gust Genrich and Wm. Schumacher acting as pallbearers.

May God comfort the bereaved one and May they feel that the sympathy of their friends is witht hem in their time of sorrow.
