William E. Mitte

Services for William E. "Bill " Mitte, 92 formerly of 2511 Jackson St.,will be at 11a.m. Thursday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.Friends May call from 4 to 6 p.m.Wednesday at Behr Funeral Home,1491 Main St, where there will be a parish wake service at 5 p.m.

Mr. Mitte worked at A.Y. McDonald's for 28 years,where he was a general foreman for many years.

He was born on Oct.14,1903,in Weston, Wis., son of William M. and Bertha (Schoenherr)Mitte.He died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Feb.19,1996, at Ennoble Manor Care Center.

He married Marcella M. Neis on April 28, 1927, in Neillsville,Wis.; she passed away on Nov.24, 1979.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and its rosary society. He was an active bingo worker at the Holy Ghost. He also was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Holy Ghost Court.He was active with the Boy Scouts of America in the Dubuque area. For his devoted service to scouting, he recieved the silver Beaver Award and the Scout Master Key Awqard.He also recieved the St. George award for his special activities in the Dubuque Area Catholic Scouting Programs. He was an avid fisherman.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald(Eileen) Newton, of Dubuque, and Mrs. Bernice McConnell, of Bettendorf, Iowa; 11 grandchildren,17 great grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter; a sister , Mrs.Edwina Pemberton, of Portland Ore

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jamey Newton; four sisters, Hedwig Schoenherr, Mrs. Walter(Rose) Grap, Bertha Mitte and Mrs.Walter (Itilda) Kramer; and four brothers, Ted, Walter and Harold Mitte and Edwin Klickman.

Memorials May be given to the Boy Scouts of America in the Dubuque area.
