Weis, Raphael "Ray" J. (2 Feb. 1930 - 24 Nov. 2004)

Raphael J. "Ray" Weis, 74, of 1407 N. Peach Ave., died on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee after being transferred from Christopher East Health and Rehabilitation Center. His wife Nancy and daughter Jennifer were at his side until he entered eternal rest.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles D. Stoetzel. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman, Clark County. Suzanne Golden will be the organist along with St. John's Church Funeral Choir.

Family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services.

Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Ray was born on Feb. 2, 1930, in Spencer to William E. and Nellie (Skoine) Weis. He is a graduate of Spencer High School. Ray farmed with his brother Vernal Weis in Spencer until 1976. He then worked for Ace Bolt and Nut Co. hosting funds raisers for FFA organizations. He was proud to have started this fund-raiser throughout the upper half of Wisconsin. Most recently, for the past four years, Ray worked for Wal-Mart as a door greeter. He enjoyed the opportunity immensely to be a part of the Wal-Mart family.

Ray married Nancy Blanchard on Sept. 8, 1979, in Spencer. They celebrated 25 years of marriage this past September. Ray is also survived by his pride and joy, his daughter Jennifer Rae Weis of Madison.

He is further survived by three sisters, Verjean (Wilbur) Mellenthin of Spencer, Patricia (Elmer) Schemenauer of Jackson and Rosemary (William) Gamble of Lowell, Mich.; one brother Vernal (Carol) Weis of Long Beach, Calif.; and a special sister-in-law Toots (Charles) Gries of Windsor, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Donald Weis.
