Colby Resident, 74, dies on Wednesday

Services will be held Sautrday for Mrs. Joseph Altenberger

COLBY, WIS. - Mrs. Joseph Altenberger, 74, died Wednesday night at 6 o'clock at her home in Colby following a two years' illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church. The Rev. B. A. Schmiechen will conduct the services, and burial will be made in the Colby Cemetery.

Mrs. Altenberger, nee Clara Schulte, was born in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Aug. 24, 1864. Fifty-nine years ago she came to Clark County with her parents, the late Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Schulte. She was married about 54 years ago to Joseph Altenberger, who prededed her in death 18 years ago. A son, William, died in 1936.

Surviving are six daughters. Mrs. John Pauschek, Luxemburg; Mrs. Henry Meier, Appleton; Miss Eleanor Altenberger, Stevens Point; Mrs. Martha Rahn and Mrs. Edgar Laux, Town of Colby; and Miss Pauline Altenberger, at home; one brother Robert Schulte, Colby; two sisters, Mrs. William Domer, Unity, and Mrs. Rose Klingbeil, Chicago; three half brothers, Charles Schulte, Colby; Arthur Schulte, Marathon; and Emil Schulte, Dubuque, Iowa; and four half- sisters, Mrs. Reinholdt Lipprandt, Green Grove; Mrs. August Buchholtz, Holcombe; and Mrs. Edward Awe and Mrs. Henry Gurmach (should be Zumach), Sturtevant.
