Poppe, Christine (14 April 1859 - 26 Nov. 1930)

Mrs. Emil Poppe passed away at her home in Neillsville at 12:45 a.m., Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 1930, after a lingering illness. She has reached the age of 71 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Christina Seif was born at Dale, Wis., April 14, 1859. She grew to womanhood there and was married to Emil Poppe of Dale on Oct. 4, 1881. After living on a farm in that locality for seven years they moved to Clark County, settling on land in the town of Seif, which they developed into a fine farm and which remained their home until they moved to Neillsville in May, 1923.

Mrs. Poppe was a woman of fine traits of character, caring for her home and family with skill and industry and ever ready to do a kindly service for friends and neighbors as long as her health and strength permitted. During her lingering sickness she was patient in her suffering. Her three daughters gave her constant care until the end.

To Mr. and Mrs. Poppe were born one son and four daughters -- one daughter Christina dying at the age of two years. She is survived by the husband, one son John, on the home farm; three daughters, Josephine, Mrs. Elmer Mund, town of Seif, Otilie, Mrs. Ed. Prock, town of Weston; Alma, Mrs. Oscar Christofferson, town of Weston, one sister Pauline, Mrs. Herman Schwenke of Dale, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the home at 1 p.m., Saturday, and at St. John’s Lutheran Chruch at 1:30, Rev. Wm. Baumann officiating. The pallbearers were nephews, John, David, Charles and Fred Seif, Johs. Schwenke of Dale and George Wiesner of Augusta.
