Allen, Vivian (28 Nov. 1896 - 18 July 1930)

Mrs. L. A. Allen who had been in ill health for about a year, and for the past month confined to the bed, passed away at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, Friday morning, July 18. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 33 years, 7 months and 20 days.

Vivian Degener, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Degener, was born at Altoona, Wis., Nov. 28, 1896. Later they moved to Chili, which was their home from 1901-1919. She was married at Chili to Lucius A. Allen in 1913. Later they moved to Augusta, and also lived for a time in Chicago and five years in Chippewa Falls. Last October owing to ill health she came here to stay at the home of her parents. All that good care, nursing, and medical attention could do wee done for her by her parents and husband, but of no avail.

Mrs. Allen was a lady of lovable qualities of character and especially at Chili, where much of her adult life was spent, she had a large group of admiring friends. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, being connected with the Chili Camp.

Her blameless life will be an inspiration to her young son, and the greatest glory that could come to her three daughters would be to grow into the beautiful type of womanhood that their mother attained.

No greater tribute could be paid to her than that expressed by her husband: " No matter was adversities presented themselves, she was able to adjust herself readily and cheerfully to the circumstances."

Mrs. Allen is survived by her parents, her husband and four children: Iris Sophia age 15, Kathryn Louise, 12; Patricia, 3; and Sheldon Albert, 13 months.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Rev. Lane C. Findley officiating.
