The cheese factory, once owned by William Gerlach is pictured (below) as it looked in 1920. Mr. Gerlach purchased a small parcel of land in the SW of the SE Section 30, Fremont Township and built a new creamery on it in 1910. He later sold it to John Young. The last private owner on the Courthouse records was Hugo Kobs. The plant closed in 1948 as a milk receiving station.
