Tibbett, James (Jim) Frederick, Sr. 22 April 1934 – 2 August 2018)

James (Jim) Frederick Tibbett Sr, 84, of Rockford, IL passed away on August 2, 2018. He was born on April 22, 1934, to John W. and Irene (Leland) Tibbett in Neillsville. He married Norma Jane Payne in 1953. His 4 children include James F. Tibbett Jr., Sharon (Bruce) Rumore, Shirley Small and Bill (Sandra Collins) Tibbett. He married Alyce (Montgomery) Nelson in 1992, she passed away on June 13, 1994. He had two step-sons with Alyce, Mike (Debbie) Nelson and John Nelson.

Jim is survived by his 4 children, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, his brother John (Jack) Tibbett, his nephew Bobby Tibbett and numerous other family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife Alyce Tibbett, niece Sandy Hunter and sister-in-law Roberta Tibbett. He also is survived by his two beloved fur-babies (cats) Sophie and Mittens, who he absolutely adored.

Jim lived most of his life in Rockford, IL with his family and worked as a machinist at Sunstrand Corp., where he retired after 30 years of service. His favorite pass-times included fishing, camping, snowmobiling, restoring boat motors and most of all he enjoyed garage sales. He will forever be remembered for his sharp mind, problem solving abilities, for being a spirited and very strong-minded man and for being a beloved father and friend.

A memorial service will be held at Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 3 P.M. There will be a visitation Saturday afternoon in the funeral home from 2 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers memorials to Paws Humane Society.

Jim was a member of the Eagles Club for many years, and he personally requested that his family and friends join together in a celebration of his life on August 11th, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. (3829 11th Street, Rockford, IL, 61109), following his memorial service.
