Miller, Helene Rosalie (27 Jan. 1857 - 22 May 1930)

Helene Rosallie Fich, wife of Herman Miller, an old resident of this county died at her home 260 S. Court Street, Neillsville, at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, may 22, aged 73 years, 3 months and 26 years.

A year ago last February she was taken sick with the flu from which she never fully recovered her strength.

Mrs. Miller was born in Berlin, Germany, Jan. 27, 1857 and grew to womanhood there. In 1878 she was married to Herman Miller, and in 1881 they came to America and settled in Clark County, which has been their home ever since.

While Mrs. Miller’s life was one of hard work and devotion to the duties of her home, her singularly sweet and sunny disposition reached out and appealed to all with whom she came in contact. In her home and among her neighbors she was ever watchful to be of help and brought good cheer to all. She will be greatly missed by everyone and sadly mourned by all her family.

She leaves her husband and eight children -- one son August in a hospital in Madison, and seven daughters, namely: Anna, Mrs. Wm. Bradford; Amanda, Mrs. Edward Kutchera; Beatrice, Mrs. Wm. Reindel, all of Neillsville; Ellen, Mrs. Arthur Englund; Lillian, Mrs. Neal Johnson, both of Minneapolis; Misses Minnie and Clara at home.

She leaves four grandchildren; Gloria Reindel, Irene, Florence and Charles Bradford, also some relatives in Germany.

The funeral was held Sunday at Lowe’s funeral home and was attended by a very large gathering of friends and neighbors. Rev. G. W. Longenecker preached the funeral sermon. The pall bearers were George Frantz, Robert Kurth, Ferdinand ?rach, John Wolff, Henry Zschernitz and C. H. Kuechenmeister. Mrs. T. H. Slinger with Miss Marie Woelffer at the piano sang " Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Abide With Me," and "Lead me Gently Home, Father."

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Neal Johnson, Mrs. Ellen Englund, and Miss Florence Bradford of Minneapolis; Mrs. Lloyd Stepheny, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Miller of Spencer.

"I cannot say, and I will not say, that she is dead, she is just away. With a cheery smile and wave of the hand. She has wandered into an unknown land. And left us dreaming. How every fair.
