Schrimper, Garwin L. (6 Augl 1922 - 12 JUN 2004)

Garwin L. Schrimper, 81, Greenwood, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfeild. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m.., Wednesday, June 16, at Missionary Baptists Church, greenwood. The Rev. David Sommerfeld officiated. Burial will be in the Greenwood City Cemetery at a later date.

Garwin Lawrence Schrimper was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Lawrence and Iva (nee Bleedner) Schrimper. He was raised and educated in the Cedar Rapids area, graduating from high school in 1940. He married Dorothy Potter on Oct. 17, 1942, in Kahaka, Mo. He worked various jobs and spent 13 years employed at Happel & Sons Implement in Cedar Rapids. In 1961, they moved to Loyal, where they purchased a farm and began farming. They moved to a farm morthwest of Greenwood in 1968, after a fire destroyed the barn on their Loyal farm. His wife, Dorothy, died on Oct. 21, 1963. He then married Bernice Beloat on Feb. 18, 1984, in Greenwood. He continued to farm until his retirement in 1993. His interest included deer hunting, garage sales, and collecting antiques.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bernice Schrimper, Greenwood; two daughters, Ann (Hugh) Jellison, Georgetown, Texas, and Beth Liniman, Garfield Heights, Ohio; three step children, Stanely Beloat, Redding, Calif., Vern (Gwen) Beloat, Cedarburg, and Connie Beloat, Appleton; three grandchildren, Heidi (Chris) Vehrs, Eric ( Virginia) Jellison, and Vicki Liniman; six step children, Andrea, Angie, Laura (Arik), Nicole, Derek, and Ryan; one great-granddaughter, Emily Jellison; and two step great-grandchildren, Maggie and Emma.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and one brother, Eldon Schrimper.

Memorials May be given in his name to the Missionary Baptists Church parking lot fund.

Cuddie Funeral home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
