Rojtek, Barney (1 NOV 1874 - 9 Jul 1926)

Barney Rojtek met with instant death last Friday morning, July 9th, 1926. He was going to shoot some woodchucks who were annoying him for sometime past, and in coming down the granary stairs the shot gun, which he loaded, accidentally discharged and the shot went through the left side of his face, killing him.

Deceased was born in Poland, Nov. 1, 1874. In 1893 he came to Milwaukee and in 1895 came to Thorp, Clark County, Wis., where he resided on a farm. He was married in 1898 to Miss Lottie Malecki. To this union five children were born, of whom one son died in infancy. He was known as a good man and was respected by all.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Alex Kowieski, and granddaughter, Mrs. Frank, Wnek, two sons, Chester and John, also four brothers, John of Thorp, and three in Poland, one sister, Mrs. John Bartkowiak, and step-sister, Mrs. Tom Grajek of Milwaukee, and one sister in Poland.

The funeral, which was largely attended, was held at St. Hedwig's Church, Monday, July 12, Rev. F. Kulig officiating. The remains were interred in St. Hedwig's Cemetery. May his soul rest in peace.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. A. Kowieski of Minneapolis, Mrs. J. Bartkowiak, Mr. and Mrs. L. Bartkowiak, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grajeck, all of Milwaukee.
