Hanson, Ole A. (24 SEP 1844 - 6 Sep 1928)

Ole A. Hanson, one of the oldest residents of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., passed away at his home on the north side on Thursday, Sept. 6, 1928, aged nearly 84 years. His death was due to old age and weakness coming from it. His death came like sleep, peacefully and painlessly.

Mr. Hanson was born in Konsvinger, Norway, Sept. 24, 1844. He grew to manhood there and on Dec. 5, 1867 he was married to Marie Jacobson. In 1871 they came to America, coming almost directly to Neillsville, where they settled and built a house that was his home until he died. Mrs. Hanson died Feb. 8, 1923.

Mr. Hanson worked in the lumber camps as long as he was able to do that work and in the spring for many years went on the log drive on the river. His life was full of toil and hardships. He took a great interest in public affairs for many years and read and discussed politics with rare intelligence. He was a man of great kindness of heart and really died without an enemy in the world.

He is survived by six children: Miss Josephine Hanson of St. Louis; Mrs. Henry Funk of Las Animas, Colorado; Mrs. George Vaught of Burbank, Okla.; Julius of Minot, N. D.; Mrs. Hugh Hubbard of Chicago and Mrs. Jack Light at home. One daughter died in infancy.

The funeral was held at the home Monday, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The daughter, Mrs. Hubbard and sun Julius were here to attend the funeral.
