Canon, Solomon R. (22 Jan 1845 - 17 Augl 1928)

Last week J. F. Schuster received notice of the death of his uncle, S. R. Canon, formerly well known here as Royce Canon at La Mesa, Calif.. Mr. Canon was associated with his brothers in the early times in lumbering in the town of Washburn, Clark County, Wis. in what is still known as Cannonville. Miss Mable Canon of Neillsville is a niece of deceased.

The following sketch is taken from a California newspaper:

Canon - At La Mesa, Calif., Aug. 17, 1928. Solomon Royce Canon, husband of Mrs. Alice G. Canon, father of Catherine T. Olinger, John J. Canon and Byron Q. R. Canon, all of La Mesa; Louis L. Canon of San Diego; adopted father of Ferdinand Stange of Washington and Grace Gustafson of San Francisco, Calif.; a member of La Mesa Lodge, No. 407, F. & A. M.; a native of New York, aged 83 years, 6 months and 26 days.

Friends and members of the Masonic order are invited to attend the funeral services to be held from Erickson Funeral Parlors, La Mesa, Monday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m. under the auspices of La Mesa Lodge No. 407, F. & A.M., assisted by Rev. Charles William Hill. Cremation will be Private at Greenwood Cemetery.
