John Gluen and wife of Fond du Lac County, were the guests of John Vandeberg and wife last week. G.S. Rowe and Chester Quackenbus were on the sick list the first of the week. Farmers in the vicinity seem to have turned the tide from wood to bolts. Rev. L. Allen, living on the town line of the Towns of York and Loyal, had the misfortune to fall and received injuries that laid him up of some time. The feed mill at this place has stopped operations, be we are unable to learn the particulars. A. Benedict visited Granton Tuesday, on business. John Steinfeldt is driving a high spirited span of horses and came very near having a runaway, Monday. A heavy wind storm struck this locality Wednesday evening and continued all day Thursday, piling the snow in large heaps and filling up the highways. E.M. Rowe made a business trip to Granton last Thursday. John Gluen's little son was down with the measles last week while here on a visit. Henry Peat went to Chili Thursday with a view of looking for employment. Some people have the impression that road graders don't amount to anything, but the way A. Benedict took the snow out of the road last Friday with one, is enough to convince anyone that they are just as equal to making good roads in the winter as in the summer. Fred Benedict sold his little pony to W. Wing of Chili. Consideration $20. Fred, what will your best girl do now? E.M. Rowe and A. Benedict transacted business at the county seat on Saturday. The Epworth League will hold a social on Tuesday night, January 23rd, in the hall formerly occupied by the Good Templars. All are cordially invited. Proceeds for the benefit of Elder Hoffman.
