Miss Maud Humiston took up the rod again Tuesday in the Hemp District near the mound. Ed Ackerman, of Grant, made our burg a pleasant call Tuesday. A number of families in this vicinity took in the M.W.A. supper at Granton New Year's evening. Mrs. Charles Withee, of Dubuque, Iowa, is visiting with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Parret received a New Year's gift in the shape of a bouncing baby boy. A number of our citizens made a pleasure trip to Loyal Wednesday evening. Ernest Grabe was reported on the sick list the first of the week. Bald Bill would like to know what has become of Roxy as he did not wish to offend her and hopes that she will not construe it as such. Bert Redmond, who spent several years in Washington, is again shaking hands with old time friends. Mrs. Carl Tischer is reported quite ill at present. At a business meeting of the Epworth League last Saturday evening, the following officers were elected:

President: A.P. Fulwiler; First Vice President: Mabel Gibson; Second Vice President: Addie Lawrence; Third Vice President: Frank Snyder; Fourth Vice Presdient: Effie Gibson; Secretary: Sadie Graves; Treasurer: Jennie Rowe
