Kulp, Frank L. (?1872?- 15 Jan. 1923)

A letter from Harry F. Darling of Spooner and a copy of the Le Sueur, Minn., News of Jan. 15, tell of the death of Frank L. Kulp, formerly well known here. Deceased was one of the crack ball players in Neillsville and pitched for the old home team. He was married here to Miss Mamie James. The following extract is from the Le Sueur News"

"As a youth ht was an athlete and all his life, up to a couple of years ago, played more or less base ball an at one time was in the leagues of various states and a promising pitcher was injured. Frank had a big heart. He wore a smile and it was not a deceptive one it was real. It was probable among the old times that noe were better known than he in the base ball world of Minnesota, Wisconsin and out west. He was a large man physically and use his head always. He was full of ideas, progressive and splendid conversationalist. He had and eye for all that was helpful and ever had something new to tell of improvements. He was about 51 years of age and spent nearly half of his years in the west. He went to Bend, Wash., when it was a frontier village of about 300 westerners and today it is a city of 7,000. He served in various official positions in that city, such as police chief, deputy marshal and like jobs and always with satisfaction until his failing health come."
