Putman, Marie (28 SEP 1923)

Miss Marie Putman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Putman, was one of the happy participants in a double wedding, which was celebrated at the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Eau Claire Friday evening of last week. The principals in this nuptial event were Miss Isabel Gapes and Mr. Harvey Sainsbury of Reedsburg, and Miss Putman, formerly of this village (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), and Mr. James D. Sainsbury of Eau Claire. The grooms are brothers and attended each other, and the brides, in turn acted as bridesmaid to one another. The marriage ceremonies were performed by the pastor, Rev. F. R. Kinney. Following the ceremony the newly married couples repaired to the home of the groom's cousin, where the wedding supper was served.

The bride of Mr. James Sainsbury is one of the popular ladies of this village, an ardent church worker, and an efficient helpmate for the man who has won her for his bride. The groom is a teacher, and at present is completing his studies in the Eau Claire Normal, and will graduate with the mid-year class next February. Best wishes are extended by Humbird friends.

(Follow on Note)

I notice two errors in the post regarding the marriage of Marie Putnam from the Humbird Enterprise.  Her husband should be James P. (Perley) Sainsbury and the bride of Harvey Sainsbury should be Isabel Gates.

Thanks,
Michael Jeffers, a Sainsbury descendant.
