Frank A. Shute was born at Tomah, Wisconsin, Jan. 17, 1863, the youngest child of Ben and Jane Shute. He spent his early years in Tomah, going to Eau Claire in the early '80s, being employed as carpenter by the Omaha Ry. Co., and later as fireman.

Mr. Shute was united in marriage to Mabel L. Stallard, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Stallard, on June 17, 1896, at the home of her parents at Humbird. Their home was in Altoona, and two or three years later, in partnership with Mrs. Shute's brother, the late B. J. Stallard, bought the merchandise business of E. A. Freeman. After two or three years, Mr. Stallard returned to Humbird. Mr. Shute then resigned from the railroad work and gave his attention to the merchandise business.

In 1937 he suffered several heart attacks which caused him to be quite inactive the past eleven years. He passed away at the home of a nephew, John H. Stallard, 1422 Menomonie St., Eau Claire, Sept. 15, 1948, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 28 days.

M. Rev. Henry Friedman officiated. He was laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery.
