Servaty, Catherine (31 Oct 1827 - 9 Mar 1912)

Mrs. Catherine Servaty died at her home in this city March 9, 1912, aged 84 years, 4 months and 9 days.

She was born in Steinbach, province of Alsace-Lorraine, of French parentage, on Oct. 31, 1827. In 1851, with her widowed mother and her brothers, she came to America, the family settling at Elgin Ill. At that place she was married to John Servaty Jul 10, 1852. They moved to Belvidere, Ill. in 1855, where they lived till April 1883, when they moved to Neillsville, Clark County. Mr. Servaty died in Apr. 1889. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Madeline Mick and Miss Katie and Julie, all residing in Neillsville, two sons, Chas. of Fresno, Cal., and John of Owen. The late Mrs. W.G. Klopf was a daughter. She leaves also one brother, Joseph Thill, of Augusta, Okla.

Her years of strength and vigor were devoted to the welfare of her home and family. She was a woman "rich in common sense," who in prosperity was not elated and in adversity was not cast down. She was a good neighbor to all without partiality, but had among the older generation certain friends of whom she was especially fond. As the feebleness of age drew on the kindly care bestowed upon her by children and grandchildren, gave evidence that her years of thoughtfulness and toil in their behalf had borne rich fruitage. Her work was well done and finished. Like the sheaf full ripe, she was ready for the harvest home. To her family she leaves a legacy of wisdom, kindliness and precious memories. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Nye preaching the funeral sermon.
