Huntley, Ella (1858 - 3 Nov 1910)
This community was greatly grieved and shocked last week by the news that Mrs. John Huntley had died at Ashland, Oregon, Nov. 23, 1910, after a very brief illness.
Deceased, whose maiden name was Ella Ketchum, was born in 1858 at West Bend, Wis., being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Ketchum. In 1882 she was married to John Huntley and came to Clark County to live, settling on a farm northwest of the city. Later they moved into Neillsville, where they resided until last June, when they went west to make their home at Ashland, Oregon.
Mrs. Huntley was a woman in who were combined all of the fine qualities of womanhood. In the home she was a devoted wife and mother, looking well to the comfort and well being of all the household; on the other hand she died not neglect the higher things of life, cultivating an interest in those things that bring richness to the mind and heart. In a quiet way her influence for good was felt, not alone in her own family, but by all who knew her. Such a woman was a valuable one to any community.
She leaves her husband and two sons; Lee and Harold, the former grown to manhood, the latter about fifteen years of age; two daughters, Alice and Mayme, both young ladies. She leaves also her aged mother, who was with her at Ashland, and two brothers, Ed Ketchum of Duluth and O.E. Ketchum of Milwaukee. Burial took place at Ashland, Ore., on Sunday last.
