Downey, Anna (Marriage - Apr 1904)

In an Ottawa, Ill., daily we notice the account of the brilliant wedding of Carl F. Mick, one of Neillsville, Clark Country's boys who has been a credit to this city. For seven years he worked and studied pharmacy in the C.C. Sniteman Co. drug store and at the University of Chicago. He holds a fine position in a drug store in Ottawa and they begin married life in a nicely furnished new home.

The following is a part of the newspaper account of the wedding:

"Several hundred guests witnessed the ceremony at St. Patrick's Church last evening which united in marriage Miss Anna Downey, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil E. Downey, and Carl F. Mick, of this city. The ring ceremony, Rev. Father Drummy officiating, was used, followed by benediction.

The bride was gowned in white liberty satin, oriental lace and pearl trimmings, with white tulle veil, and carried white roses. The maids wore green muslin de soie with lace trimmings, and white picture hats, and carried pink tea roses.

After the marriage ceremony about three hundred guests were entertained at the home of the bride's parents, 317 Clay St., over two hundred and seventy-five being seated at the banquet tables. The parlors were handsomely decorated with white roses, ferns and palms, and the dining rooms with pink and white roses, ferns and palms. One of the upper rooms was nearly filled with the scores of beautiful and desirable gifts which were presented the popular couple by relatives and friends, and the guests were given an opportunity to view the handsome display.

The following out-of-town guests were present: Mrs. J.C. O?Brien and son, Mrs. and Mrs. Ludwick, Miss Corrine Dowling, Mr. James Dowling, Mr. Wm. Spillane, all of Chicago; Mrs. Mick and Mr. Emil Mick of Neillsville, Wis., mother and brother of the groom; Mr. Lou Fowler of Morris, Ill.
